چکیده
Abstract Background Leiomyomas are the most common benign esophageal tumors originating from muscular layer. They rare lesions that constitute less than 1% of neoplasms. In one-third patients leiomyomas occur at level gastroesophageal junction. Minimally invasive surgery is considered today treatment choice with laparoscopic approach used for distal tumors. Methods We present case a 79-year-old woman an stromal tumor located above The patient underwent successful excision (enucleation) tumor. Subsequently Dor fundoplication was performed in order to cover defect. Results recovery uneventful. resumed liquid diet within 24 hours and discharged hospital on 3d postoperative day. one year follow-up, free symptoms without stricture or evidence esophagitis endoscopy. Histology consistent leiomyoma. Conclusion Distal can be safely effectively treated approach.

متن کاملLate Evaluation of Dysphagia after Heller Esophageal Myotomy with Dor Fundoplication for Achalasia
BACKGROUND All available treatments for achalasia are palliative and aimed to eliminate the flow resistance caused by a hypertensive lower esophageal sphincter. AIM To analyze the positive and negative prognostic factors in the improvement of dysphagia and to evaluate quality of life in patients undergoing surgery to treat esophageal achalasia by comparing findings before, immediately after, ...

OBJECTIVE To identify predictors of long-term outcome of laparoscopic Heller myotomy for achalasia, including predictors of heartburn and recurrent dysphagia, which occasionally develop postoperatively. DESIGN Retrospective review using interviews of patients. SETTING Academic university hospital. PATIENTS One hundred sixty-five patients with achalasia who underwent a laparoscopic esophag...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Heller myotomy and Dor fundoplication for achalasia: analysis of successes and failures.
BACKGROUND In the treatment of achalasia, surgery has been traditionally reserved for patients with residual dysphagia after pneumatic dilatation. The results of laparoscopic Heller myotomy have proven to be so good, however, that most experts now consider surgery the primary treatment. HYPOTHESIS The outcome of laparoscopic myotomy and fundoplication for achalasia is dictated by technical fa...
متن کاملSubmucosal tunneling endoscopic resection of a giant esophageal leiomyoma.
Submucosal tunneling endoscopic resection (STER) for removal of small upper gastrointestinal tumors arising from the muscularis propria has been demonstrated to be effective and safe [1, 2]. We demonstrated the submucosal tunneling technique for removal of a 10-cm esophageal leiomyoma, and subsequent management of a large mucosotomy. A 66-year-old woman presented with slowly progressive solid-f...
